Weekly Update...

ROUND UP...

Thank-you to everyone who came out and helped at Family Days this past weekend!  Rhonda, Brian and Bobby Curry did a great job with the event props and goodies!  We estimate that we made contact with over 2,500 people.  Be in prayer this week for God to "give the increase" for the efforts made.

Remember:

It is God who gives the growth. Our task is to be obedient. He will give us ability and in His field we will plant and water while God gives the increase!

UPCOMING EVENTS...

Picnic at Cracker Creek on Sunday, October 12 with combined Common Bond from Noon to 4:00PM.  Call Gary Pearson if you have not signed up for a food item.

National Day of Prayer is October 26.

Make a Difference Day is fast approaching at the Port Orange Church has decided to participate through a beautification of the Pinegrove facility of SMA Behavioral Health Services.  We need 5 - 10 volunteers to participate in this community service project on Saturday, October 25 from 8:00AM - 2:00PM.  The center will provide mulch, flowers, rakes, cleaning supplies, water/sodas, snacks and a cook out lunch.

Please see Bobby Curry for  more information and to give your commitment to help!

SMA Behavioral Health Services exists to promote good mental health and to improve the quality of life for individuals and families affected by mental illness, substance abuse, additions and delinquency by providing superior prevention, intervention, crisis stabilization, education and treatment services.

The clients who live in the facility (about 60 beds a night are full) and over 6000 per year who visit for clinical assessment will benefit by the beautification project.

Due to the debilitating affects of the symptoms of mental illness and substance abuse and the stigma surrounding mental illness and substance abuse, the clients often have low self-esteem and no self-confidence.  Having a nicely landscaped and clean facility enhances their feelings of worthiness and self-respect.

Port Orange Relay For Life is scheduled for May 1, 2009 at City Center Complex.  If you would like to help coordinate a team from our church, please see Roben-Marie for details.

EXTRAS...

•Election day is fast approaching and there are six proposed constitutional amendments on the ballot in Florida.  In an effort to provide information to help aid you in your decision, the amendments can be found on the church website.  Click on Resources, scroll down and click on "Florida Proposed Constitutional Amendments 2008 under Florida Election 2008 for more details.   Also, visit here for more details.

•Danielle Crouch will be participating in  the Kidz for a Cause Breast Cancer Awareness Walk this month.  If you would like to sponsor her efforts, please see Danielle or Sharon.  Kidz for the Cause! was designed to inspire children and early teens so they will continue with this early awareness into their adulthood. Be sure to encourage her as it is important for our kids to get involved in something bigger than themselves.  It is all part of serving!

Have a great day!
Roben-Marie  :)
